Re: Adventist Retirement Plus – COVID-19 Update
Dear Residents, Clients, Family and Friends,
Yesterday the Queensland Chief Health Officer and the Queensland Premier confirmed that there have been no additional COVID-19 community transmissions in the last week. As part of their announcement they also confirmed that they were removing all locations from the restricted areas list which in turn means that all aged care facilities can re-open to visitors.
The purpose of this letter is to confirm that we will be re-opening our Victoria Point and Melody Park facilities for visits from Wednesday (Caloundra and Capricorn remain open). Visitors wishing to visit our sites will need to book at least the day before they are planning to visit as was the case prior to these sites being locked down.
As you would be aware the Queensland border was closed to NSW and the ACT in addition to Victoria last Saturday (some exceptions apply for people living on the NSW / Qld border). With the addition of NSW and the ACT now being listed as “hot spots” by the Queensland Government we will not be able to permit anyone to enter one of our sites if they have visited or have been visited by someone from one of these locations since Saturday the 8th of August.
At present we have heard reports that there are some people that have taken the opportunity to cross the border prior to Saturday and that they may not have been honest when making their declaration. Given this concern we will be requiring our staff to continue wearing face masks until Saturday the 22nd of August which is two weeks after the border was closed. Further we will be asking all visitors to also wear a face mask for this period. The face mask can be your own or we will supply you with one if you do not have one.
The above requirement will only be for our three south Queensland locations (Caloundra, Melody Park and Victoria Point) given their proximity to the Queensland border. We appreciate that this will be a little inconvenient in the short term but as mentioned it will only be a requirement until the 22nd August on the basis that we continue to have no community transmissions.
I hope you have found the information above clear but if you have any queries or concerns please give reception at the site you normally visit a call.
Yours sincerely,
Eric Anderson
CEO
